The Changing Scene / Changement de Scène
Lithograph reproduction. A springtime study in the heart of Montreal’s legal district, seen from Place Vauquelin near City Hall. Looking west on Notre-Dame Street, the new Palais de Justice is seen on the left, with part of the old building appearing on the right. As space became tight in both buildings, the construction of a new Palais de Justice was a necessity. If the current plans of the Department of Justice go ahead, a skyscraper will soon rise on this site. The elegant newspaper kiosk in the foreground is well-appointed with a stove for those cold winters.
