The Changing Scene / Changement de Scène
Lithograph reproduction. Montreal has many picturesque corners, and this scene overlooking Beaver Hall Hill, seen from de la Gauchetière Street, is no exception. For over 30 years, the old building on the corner of Belmont, opposite the Bell Telephone building, was home to what were then known as “George’s Place” and “Tim’s”, lunchtime meeting places for a snack and a good chat. This corner has become one of the city’s temporary parking lots, and will soon be the site of the Montreal Board of Trade’s new headquarters.
