Tea bowl

The tea bowl is complete; it has two small cracks. It is circular in shape. In profile, the bowl has a wall that flares slightly at the top, topped by a flared rim with a slightly undulating top. The lower part of the wall curves towards the flat bottom. The bowl rests on a ring-shaped foot. The outer rim of the foot is beveled and free of glaze; the decoration is molded and hand-painted in polychrome enamels of pink, orange, green, violet and black, with gold highlights on the glaze. The molded decoration is visible on the top of the rim and on the wall: the top is corrugated and the wall is decorated with small vertical convex ribs. The painted decoration is floral, in the Famille rose style. The decoration is painted under the inner rim and on the inner base, as well as under the rim and on the outer wall. Under the inner rim, it consists of a braid outlined in black and trimmed with a row of interlocking ovals painted in pink. This is followed by a row of wavy lines covered by a green-painted line. The decoration on the inner base is a small leafy stem painted pink. The decoration below the outer rim is a fillet made of a row of overlapping ovals painted purple. The main decoration on the wall is a group of flowers painted pink, orange and violet; the leaves are painted green, while the stems and leaves are outlined in black. The rest of the wall is occupied by five different small flowers, painted pink, orange and violet, with black stems and green leaves. The top of the border shows traces of gilding.
