Tea bowl

The bowl is complete. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, with a straight rim and a corrugated top. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. The bowl rests on a straight ring-shaped foot. The bottom is recessed and flat. The decoration is molded, transfer printed and hand-painted in blue with gilding and floral motifs. The molded decoration is visible on the outer wall, and perceptible on the inner wall; it consists of twisted vertical flutes, from the foot to the rim (Fluted wrythen). The painted decoration is found under the inner rim and on the base. Below the rim, it consists of a wide horizontal band painted dark blue, with two alternating motifs painted in gold: a sloping leafy stem and a pearl. The perimeter of the band, as well as the top of the rim, are outlined in gold. The decoration in the center of the background is a geometric shape consisting of a central blue disk surrounded by concentric pearls in a staggered pattern, from which clovers emerge, all painted in gold. The printed decoration is visible on the outer wall, and comprises two motifs. The main motif consists of three flower corollas, with gold-painted stems and leaves. The other motif, above the main one, is a horizontal chain of pearls encircled in gold and linked by an elongated trifoliate motif, painted in gold. A gold fillet adorns the outer edge of the foot.
