The stein is complete. It is cylindrical. The wall is narrowed at mid-height. The rim is slightly flared, with a domed top. The wall flares out towards the base, which is straight and high. The stein rests on a flat foot with a recessed, flat base. The handle is vertical. Oval in shape and cross-section, its ends are bent downwards and rest on the wall ; The decoration is incised and applied by transfer printing; it is blue in color with an oriental motif. The printed decoration is visible under the inner rim, on the outer wall and on the handle. The decoration under the inner rim consists of a complex frieze of four different motifs, some of which are repeated alternately. Below the rim is a braid made of a row of small pearls in reserve, with a core. This is followed by a band composed of two alternating motifs, separated by a third, which is a short hatched band adorned with two half-flowers in reserve. One of the motifs consists of a latticework area with a central cross; the latticework is bordered by an acanthus leaf in reserve, adorned with fine lines, and in the center of the latticework is a geometric motif with an edge in reserve, the Chinese Ju-i. The other motif is composed of two rows of pearls with a central dot, with a half-flower in reserve at the top; it too is bordered by an acanthus leaf in reserve, decorated with fine lines, beyond which a scroll encircles rows of lozenges trimmed with off-center dots. Beneath this motif is a butterfly with outstretched wings. On either side of the butterfly is a flower with a leafy, flowering stem. On either side of these flowers is a small lattice segment flanked by a scroll. Between two of these scrolls, in the center, are two grecques, each bordered by a pearl scroll followed by a cluster of pearls. The decoration on the outer wall consists of an oriental scene of islands, two of which are linked by a bridge spanning a river. On one of the islands, in the foreground, there are two tiered temples with dark blue roofs, each with an entrance and staircase; one of them features a standing figure. These temples are surrounded by trees, and tiered rocks lie on the shore. At the rear of the temples is a wall with three sections intersecting at right angles; one section has an open square window, while the other has an open rectangular window. The island borders a river to the left, spanned by a single-arched stone bridge, seen in profile, on which two bald figures stand, following one another. Behind the bridge, the temple island is enclosed by a fence, of which only a panel and a post can be seen; the panel is decorated with a central rectangle. The bridge leads to another island lined with rocks and trees, including a willow tree. In the foreground, a fence crosses the river; it features compartments that intersect at an angle and are decorated with swastikas. On the opposite wall is a large island with pavilions, tiered pagoda, trees and rocks. A small, stylized boat sails past this island. The cove is decorated with a frieze similar to the one below the inner rim. The rendering of the decoration is blurred. The frieze under the inner rim is badly cut. Incised decoration is visible under the rim and on the lower part of the outer wall. The rim has one incised ring, while the wall has two incised rings superimposed.
