Portrait de Zaïde Paré

This bust portrait by William Raphael is framed with an oval opening, and is dated and signed in the lower right-hand corner. It depicts Zaïde Paré wearing an outfit that reflects the social status of the Montreal bourgeoisie to which she belonged. Around her neck, she wears a medal bearing the letter Z, probably superimposed on the letter V, for Vinet, her mother’s name, on a mauve ribbon tied into a loop. Her gaze is slightly to her left.
