Portrait

This bust portrait, presented in an oval opening frame, depicts Marie-Josephte Panneton. She is shown looking slightly to the left, with a serious expression on her face. Her eyes are light blue, and her hair is black beneath a white lace headdress with mauve ribbons falling over her shoulders. Her black dress is fastened with a white lace collar, to the center of which is attached an oval medallion. In the center of the medallion is a seated woman wearing a dress and veil, playing the organ. This could be Saint Cecilia, patron saint of sacred music and musicians, often depicted alone.
