The stein is complete, with a vertical crack from the rim to the top. The stein is cylindrical, with a straight wall; the upper part is slightly tapered towards the rim, which is straight with a domed top. The base is straight, while the bottom is slightly domed in the center and has a wide, uneven base. The bottom is reddish-brown with traces of off-center concentric rings. The handle is vertical, oval in shape and oval in cross-section. It is attached at the top of the wall and halfway up; at its junction with the wall, the upper end is flared, while the other is folded down and flattened. On the side opposite the handle, the band has a rectangular area in reserve, with an engraved inscription: ½ NED. KAN. The top of the handle is pierced by a small circular hole, which holds a pewter tenon; the decoration is molded and painted in cobalt blue on the outer surface and on the handle. The molded decoration consists of two superimposed groove blocks, in the lower part of the wall and in its lower portion. In each block, the two widest grooves are blue. On the central part of the wall, there is a recessed band; a portion is painted in cobalt blue, covering half the stein’s circumference, leaving the area around the handle free. The handle, which has been molded separately, features several rows of vertical ribs in light relief on its outer surface.
