Historical context
This is a Fahrenheit thermometer from J. P. Dupuis ltée, a lumber and building materials company that sold wholesale and retail in Verdun. It also shows the company’s address: 1084 Church Ave. There is no longer a hardware store at this location today. Joseph-Philippe Dupuis (1877-1953), from Saint-Chrysostome in Châteauguay County, moved to Verdun in 1910 and became a lumber and hardware merchant. He won the contract to decorate ...
