Teapot cover

The teapot lid is complete. In cross-section, it is truncated cone-shaped, with a flat top and plain rim. It is fitted with a vertical grip knob, which sits on a small circular opening visible on the reverse of the lid. The neck is annular. The lid has a circular hole near the knob; the decoration is probably lathe-worked and molded. The lathe decoration is visible on the outer top. It consists of small radiating ribs, decreasing in length towards the rim and decorated with thin raised fillets near the center. The molded decoration can be seen on the knob: it takes the form of a seated woman draped in the antique style (Sybile); her head is slightly tilted and rests on her left hand, while her elbow rests on a basket.
