Teapot cover
The teapot lid is incomplete; parts of its rim are missing. It is circular in shape. In cross-section, it has a slightly domed top with a plain rim. It is fitted with a vertical knob, which sits on a small circular opening visible on the reverse of the lid. The neck is annular. The lid has a circular hole near the knob; the decoration is probably lathe-worked and molded. The lathe decoration is visible on the outer top. It consists of small radiating ribs, decreasing in length towards the rim and decorated with a thin raised fillet, increasing in number towards the rim. The molded decoration can be seen on the knob: it takes the form of a seated woman draped in the antique style (Sybile); her head is slightly tilted and rests on her left hand, while her elbow rests on a barrel with a ewer next to it.
