Teapot cover

The lid is complete, with the exception of broken and missing fragments on the collar, and a fracture repaired with copper studs. The lid is circular. In cross-section, the lid is almost flat. It is topped by a conical knob, linked to the lid by a strangulated segment. The lid has a narrow wing and a circular collar. A circular hole runs through the lid near the knob; there is a burr of paste around the hole on the back of the lid. The lid has been repaired with four copper studs, each inserted into a pair of small holes drilled in the outer wall of the lid ; The decoration is painted on the cover and applied by transfer printed; the painted decoration is gold and the printed decoration is blue with an oriental motif (Two Temples). The painted motif is visible on the knob. The printed decoration is visible on the outer wall. It consists of a complex frieze of five different motifs, some of which are repeated alternately. Near the rim, there is a small frieze made of a row of small pearls in reserve, with a core. This is followed by a band composed of two alternating motifs, separated by a solid band in dark blue adorned with a half-pearl with two volutes in reserve; it is bordered at its base by a latticework with central crosses and itself bordered by a volute. One of the main motifs is a latticework with central crosses; it is bordered by an acanthus leaf and features a central Chinese motif, the full Ju-i with a small core in reserve. This trellis supports two mirrored Greciques, bordered by a scroll of pearls and a cluster of pearls. The other design features a hexagonal diamond background with a core bordered by a dark blue scroll. This printed decoration is covered, near the edge, by a gilded fillet. A gold fillet is painted around the perimeter of the button, while the top of the button is adorned with a gold-painted ring. The junction of the printed decoration is visible.
