Teacup
The cup is complete. It is circular in shape. The wall is slightly flared at the top, and the rim is plain. The lower third of the wall is tapered towards the bottom. It rests on a foot in line with the wall. The base is free of glaze. The underside of the base is recessed and flat. The handle is vertical and ear-shaped, with an oval ring on its upper half. The upper part of the handle rests on the wall; at its lower junction, the handle is folded down and has a pointed end ; The decoration is painted and applied by Bat printed. The painted decoration is gilded, while the printed decoration is black and features a romantic or rural English motif. The printed decoration is visible on the outer wall. It consists of two different romantic scenes on opposite walls. One scene is rural, featuring a large thatched cottage with annex, whose grounds are partly enclosed by a wooden fence and covered with sock vegetation and a tall tree. The other scene features a hilly shoreline, covered with shrubs and trees, and the ruins of a fortified castle. On the water, a man waters two horses, as well as sailboats and a rowboat. Mountains rise in the background, and the sky is covered with clouds. There’s a golden net on the shore, as well as on the cove.
