Sugar bowl cover
The lid is complete. It is circular in shape. It has a stepped top with a domed center and a flat top. It has a central grip knob. It has a circular wing with an outwardly sloping top and a flat underside. It has an annular collar that tapers slightly towards the sock. The underside of the wing and the collar are free of glaze; the decoration is molded and applied by transfer printing; it is blue in color and features the Fence motif. The molded decoration is visible on the knob. The knob has been applied to the lid; it’s a stem with two leaves applied directly in sock relief to the lid; from the stem emerges a petalled flower bud. The printed decoration is visible on the top of the lid, and encloses the molded stem of the bud. The decoration is surrounded by a double fillet on the wing. The main element of the decoration is a fence made of four non-aligned, cross-hatched sections. A rock borders the fence to the right. Leafy and flowering plant stems of varying scales extend on either side of the fence; they are cross-hatched. Finally, two birds flutter above the scene.
