Hat child
Chinese tiger hat (face down) with tail and mane. The face is marked with gold leaf “Wang” (Chinese character meaning “king”). The whole is decorated with woven ribbon and blue silk brocade. The back has a silk-embroidered flower and vase on silver paper. The upper creature may be a fire-breathing dragon with coins in its mouth. The ears have hand-made springs. Among the protective animals depicted on children’s hats, the tiger is the most popular. Considered the king of animals, this feline has the power to detect and even devour evil spirits that might try to take over children.
