Compotier
The compotier is complete; there is some missing enamel around the rim, particularly at the corners, and there is a crack. The compotier is octagonal with a plain outline. In cross-section, the wing is inclined, and the wall slopes more steeply towards the bottom, before curving towards the flat bottom. The bottom rests on an annular foot with a truncated cone-shaped cross-section. The body is pinkish buff in color and covered with a bluish-white glaze; the foot is unglazed. There are smudges of enamel under the compotier, near the rim, as well as chips under the bottom and a few small holes in the enamel on the reverse. Three large traces of linear and triangular pernettes are visible under the wall. The foot is pierced by two aligned circular holes, the inside of which is covered with enamel. There is a mark painted in diffuse blue under the base: N or V. There are areas of amati enamel on the inner base ; The decoration is hand-painted in two-tone. It has been traced and painted in underglaze blue and overglaze red. It is of the compartmented braid and floral basket type. The decoration is painted on the wing and in the center of the background. The wing is decorated with a blue braid. The braid is decorated with two alternating motifs. One is in reserve on a blue-painted background: it consists of mirrored elements of two scrolls followed by two quarter-flowers; in one case, a scroll and a flower petal are added. These flowers are adorned with radiating lines painted red. The other is a latticework pattern in red. These two motifs are separated by a half-flower made of red-painted radiating lines covered by two red-painted semicircles; it is set in two blue-painted bands, while the sides are in reserve. The background features a flowering basket within a ring. The basket has a truncated cone shape on a flat swollen base and a flat swollen rim; it is outlined in blue and partially filled with a latticework painted red; the basket’s rendering imitates rattan. From the top of the basket emerges a central half-flower framed by two half-flowers; these are surrounded by curved leafy plant stems and grapes. The flowers and some of the leaves are outlined in blue and partially filled in with radiating lines painted red, while the other leaves, curved plant stems and grapes are painted blue. Two red tendrils fall from either side of the basket. The basket rests on a flared base, itself set on a blue-painted terrace. The basket is surrounded by a ring of alternating ovals and small lozenges. The lozenges are outlined and painted in blue, while the ovals are outlined in red and trimmed with two dashes painted in blue.
