Compotier
The compotier is complete; there is a small lack on the rim, and breaks have been repaired with wire and iron studs. The compotier is octagonal in shape with a plain rim. In cross-section, the rim is flat, with the wall sloping towards the bottom before curving towards the flat base. The bottom rests on an annular foot with a truncated cone-shaped cross-section. The body is brownish-red in color and covered with a bluish-white glaze; the foot is unglazed. There are smudges of enamel under the compotier, near the rim, as well as a few small holes in the enamel on the reverse. Three traces of linear and triangular pernettes are visible under the wall. The foot is pierced by two aligned circular holes, the inner wall of which is covered with enamel; there is also the beginning of a third hole, filled with enamel. The bottom is marked L3 in blue. The reverse features four studs made of double rusted iron wire, the ends of which are inserted into as many pairs of drilled holes. The front features four rusted iron wires whose ends pass through holes drilled through the wall; their ends are twisted on the reverse. All are held in place by a white paste; the decoration is molded and hand-painted in blue underglaze. The decoration is molded and hand-painted in blue underglaze. The molded decoration is visible on the inner wall, and appears as a slight vertical indentation. The decoration is painted on the wing, wall and base. The wing and wall are decorated with two types of mantling with alternating blue backgrounds. One mantling is triangular with elongated tips. It features a central leaf surrounded by mirrored motifs of scrolls and quarter leaves; the central scrolls support a fan-shaped flower. The other mantling is an oval tongue, edged with full acanthus leaves and hanging from a half-flower painted in reserve near the edge; the mantling is decorated with the same motifs as the previous one. The background is decorated with two distinct elements: leafy stems and a medallion. The leafy stems, arranged in a cross, are adorned with four central lozenges. The medallion is circular with a wavy outline; it is decorated with leafy stems and triangular flowers, and scrolls with acanthus leaves, all in reserve on a blue background. The reserved elements are adorned with radiating lines.
