Compotier
The compotier is complete; there are a few enamel chips around the rim. The compotier is circular with a wavy rim. In cross-section, the rim and wall slope towards the bottom before curving towards the flat base. The base rests on an annular foot with a truncated cone-shaped cross-section. The body is beige in color and covered with a bluish-white glaze; the foot is unglazed. There are enamel smudges under the compotier, as well as a few small holes in the enamel on the reverse. Three traces of linear and triangular pernettes are visible under the wall. The bottom of the dish shows a few areas of staining; the decoration is molded and hand-painted in two-tone. It was traced and painted in blue underglaze and red overglaze. It features compartmentalized braid and a floral basket. The molded decoration gives the rim a sinuous profile. The decoration is painted on the wall, under the rim and in the center of the base. The wall is decorated with a braid. It is outlined in blue. The braid is decorated with three alternating motifs. One is in reserve on a blue-painted background: it consists of two scrolls flanked by a quarter of a flower. The flower is adorned with red radiating lines. The other motif is a latticework drawn in red and trimmed with blue-painted pearls. These two motifs are separated by a half-flower made of red radiating lines with a blue-painted core; it is set in two blue-painted arched bands, the sides of which are in reserve. The background features a flowering basket within a ring. The basket has a truncated cone shape on a flat swollen base and a flat swollen rim; it is outlined in blue and partially filled with a latticework painted red; the basket’s rendering imitates rattan. From the top of the basket emerges a central flower framed by two leaves; these are surrounded by leafy plant stems. The flower and two leaves are outlined in blue and partially filled with red-painted lines, while the other leaves and curved plant stems are painted blue. The basket rests on a flared base, traced in blue and decorated with a latticework traced in red. The basket is surrounded by a ring of alternating ovals and small lozenges. The lozenges and ovals are outlined in red; the ovals are trimmed with blue-painted leaves.
