Historical context

At the end of the 1940s, the Café du Parlement on Quebec City’s Grand Allée was equipped with its own assortment of tableware. On the initiative of Maurice Duplessis’ government, students in the artistic advertising course at the École des beaux-arts de Québec were invited to submit proposals in which the fleur-de-lis was to take pride of place.
