Vase cover

The lid is incomplete; a portion of the rim, redone in plaster, and the gripping knob are missing, and some breaks have been repaired with glue. The lid is octagonal. It is dome-shaped, with a flat top and a flat, eight-sided wing. The decoration is molded and hand-painted in cobalt blue, under glaze. It is of the oriental floral type. The molded decoration affects the shape of the lid, which has eight flat vertical sides with rounded corners. The painted decoration covers the entire surface of the lid, from wing to top. The wing is decorated with a row of scrolls or arabesques. The base of the wall is decorated with three superimposed fillets. The main decoration covers the wall and a portion of the top, where it is encircled by a triple ring. It consists of two recumbent flowers, topped with a trifoliate leaf. The space between these motifs is decorated with stars, wavy lines and clustered pearls. The center of the top is decorated with a row of scrolls or arabesques, identical to those on the wing.
