Vase
The vase is complete. It has the shape of an inverted baluster, with a rounded shoulder topped by a short circular neck with a flat top, which has lost its glaze. The lower part of the wall is narrowed and flares out to form a massive base with a plain rim. The base has a wide, flat, unglazed fulcrum; the bottom is recessed and flat. The body is beige, hard and well-fired, and the glaze is bluish-white; its surface is shiny. There is a blue-painted mark below the background: S F.; the decoration is hand-painted in cobalt blue, underglaze. It is of the oriental scenic type, with characters. It covers almost the entire surface of the vase, from shoulder to base. The shoulder is adorned with a ribbon encircled by a double fillet; it is trimmed with a strand of full pearls between which a fillet snakes; the space is filled with scrolls. The main decoration covers the wall; encircled by double fillets, it consists of various scenes with Oriental-style figures, alone or in groups. They stand under leafy and thorny trees, sometimes surrounded by large plants and star-shaped flowers. The lower part of the vase is decorated with two alternating palmettes of different lengths.
