Vase

The pot is complete. It is octagonal in shape. In cross-section, the neck is short and straight, the shoulder is rounded, and the wall is tapered towards the base, which is flared. The base is wide, flat and glaze-free. The underside of the base is recessed and flat. There is a mark painted in red under the bottom, in three registers: LF 5 T.; The decoration is molded and painted in polychrome of red, blue and green on open. It is Oriental in style, and more Chinese than Japanese. The molded decoration is visible on the shoulder and on the wall. On the shoulder, it consists of vertical bulges molded into the corners, which continue down the wall to the base. Between the bulges, the shoulder is adorned with bulging vertical ribs, which are also found on the lower part of the wall. The painted decoration covers the entire outer surface, from the neck to the base. On the neck, the same decoration is repeated on each of the eight sides, and sits on a slightly wavy blue painted fillet. The motif is an inverted arrowhead painted in blue, from which emerge two scrolls traced in red. The central motif is flanked by two green plant motifs. This motif is bordered by two concentric triangles in red, the central one also painted red. This pattern is repeated on the base of the pot. The shoulder is divided into compartments separated by a molded bulge decorated with a red and blue tongue, with a red-painted central rhombus between red-painted chevrons in reserve, at the foot of which is a green-painted plant motif. The compartments are adorned with two different motifs repeated alternately and closed at the top by a blue-painted fillet. The two motifs end at the base with a tongue, one of which is in reserve on a blue background and is outlined in red. This tongue features a central poly-lobed medallion in reserve, encompassing a central flower and stems traced in red. There are chevrons traced in red, one of which is painted green, above the medallion, the chevrons abut at each end on two lobed ovals traced in red and adorned with a volute in reserve, a motif painted in red with a leaf in reserve and adorned with radiating strokes traced in green. The other motif features a green-painted upper section, as well as the same two red lobed ovals; they are joined by the Jui-i, a Chinese motif painted in blue. A half-flower and red scrolls hang from the base. This pattern is repeated on the lower part of the pot. The main wall motif is divided into compartments separated by a vertical molded bulge, decorated with a row of spirals in red. The wall decoration is also divided into eight decorated sections which, although not identical, are divided into two alternately repeated themes: a lakeside landscape with a figure and a pagoda, and an animal motif (bird) among leafy branches.
