Toothpaste jar lid
The lid is complete. It is circular in shape, with a slightly domed top and bulging rim. The wall is recessed and raised, with a flat, wide, glaze-free base; the inside of the lid is recessed and slightly concave. The decoration is printed in black underglaze on the top of the lid and on the back of the lid. The decoration occupies the entire surface of the lid. It is circumscribed by a fillet ring. The decoration features inscriptions in eleven registers: CRACROFT’S ARECA NUT TOOTH PASTE PREPARED FROM THE CINCALESE RECIPE WARRENTED GENUINE PRICE 1s & 2s 6d JOHN PEPPER & CO LIMITED BEDFORD LABORATORY LONDON SOLD BY ALL CHEMISTS. The decoration on the back of the lid is consigned within a ring made of a double fillet.
