Tondino

The tondino is complete. It is circular in shape and can be recognized by its wide, flat wing. The wall is deep and curved towards the bottom, which is flat. On the reverse, the tondino rests on a small ring-shaped foot, which is glaze-free in places. The bottom is recessed and slightly domed. There is a mark painted in black below the background: a rooster seen in profile to the left; the decoration is hand-painted in blue and violet on the front and reverse. It features European plant and landscape motifs. On the front, the wing, wall and back are decorated. The wing is decorated with four similar motifs of foliage and flowers on a terrace, arranged in a cross. Simple, smaller plant groups without terraces are inserted between them. The plant groups are outlined in violet and painted blue. The wall is decorated with small leafy stems and butterfly-like insects. The central background decoration is a series of three European buildings on a terrace, surrounded by trees and leafy stems. The decoration under the wing is similar to that on the front, except that it features only two large plant groups. The other two are on the outer wall, accompanied by small leafy stems. The upper outer part of the foot is adorned with a broad horizontal fillet.
