Teapot

The teapot is complete; the neck is missing and has been filled with plaster. It is globular in shape, with a rounded shoulder and a flat top, from the center of which emerges a slightly tapering neck at the top; the top is flat and free of glaze. The base is straight and the foot is annular; its fulcrum is flat and glaze-free. The bottom is recessed and flat. The teapot is fitted with a vertical handle of oval cross-section, the ends of which are attached to the wall. Opposite the handle is a spout, circular in cross-section, tapered and inclined, with a bevelled end. The spout communicates with the wall via three circular holes arranged in a triangular pattern ; The decoration is found on the outer wall of the bowl, as well as on the shoulder and handle. The decoration is of the floral type, treated in Imari. It is hand-painted in two-tone blue underglaze, then traced and painted in iron red, with gold highlights, over glaze. The shoulder braid is traced in blue and outlined with a fillet. It is composed of two alternately repeated elements. One element is a vegetal motif bordered by two leaves, all traced and painted in red; it is set between two arcs-de-circle made of two wide curved lines, traced and painted in blue and red with gilding. The second element is a double latticework with spikes, traced in red. The decoration on both sides is floral, but differs in the number of central flowers. The stem and some of the leaves are traced and painted in blue with gold highlights. The flowers are traced and painted in red, with gold highlights, while the leaves are painted and veined in red. The decoration is bordered at the base by a fillet in blue, and there is a fillet at the foot junction. The sides, on either side of the handle and spout, are decorated with leaves outlined and painted in blue. The handle is adorned with a stem traced in blue and surmounted by a flower painted red.
