Teapot

The teapot is complete, except for a small chip on the rim and the lower part of the front end of the spout, which is broken and missing. It is circular in shape. The wall is low and swollen, the shoulder is rounded, the neck is short and constricted and the rim is thin and flat-topped, with a small circular plateau on the inner wall. The base is narrowed and rests on a small swollen ring foot. The bottom is recessed and almost flat. The spout is curved like a swan’s neck and tapers towards the end. The handle is vertical, flat on the back and slightly convex on the front, with the upper end folded down and resting on the shoulder; the lower end is palmette-shaped and rests on the wall ; The decoration is molded. It covers the neck, shoulder, outer wall and underside of the base, as well as the spout and handle. It features a geometric motif. The upper part of the neck features a slightly inlaid band, while at mid-height there is a horizontal row of small pearls in relief. The decoration on the outer wall begins, at its junction with the shoulder, with the same horizontal row of small pearls in relief, while the wall is finely textured. The underside of the base is covered with fine concentric circles. The pouring spout, which has been molded separately, features a blurred decoration on its face and sides; it appears to be of a vegetal nature and composed of a long row of acanthus leaves. The handle, also molded separately, features a row of acanthus leaves on its outer surface, and its lower end terminates in a palmette.
