Spice box lid

The spice box lid is complete; a break has been repaired with glue. It is oval in shape with a wavy contour. The top is flat, the wall curves towards the rim, which is corrugated. The lid has a slightly corrugated oval collar, which is open in three places to fit over the box. The body is beige in color and covered with a glossy white enamel ; The decoration is molded and hand-painted in blue underglaze. It features compartmentalized and vegetal braid. The molded decoration is visible on the wall, which is corrugated, and on the grip knob, which is molded separately. Painted decoration is visible on the top of the lid and near the rim, as well as on the top of the knob. The top is decorated with four leafy plant elements arranged in a cross, separated by four pearls. The rim is decorated with a compartmented fillet, composed of three alternately repeated elements. One is in reserve on a blue-painted background: it consists of two scrolls between two half-leaves; these flowers are adorned with radiating lines. The other consists of a latticework with pearls. These two motifs are separated by a blue-painted half-flower, set in two blue-painted vertical bands, while the sides are in reserve. The braid is underlined by a blue fillet. The button is molded in the shape of a five-petal flower and painted blue.
