Punch bowl
The bowl is complete; it has some cracks that have been repaired with gold studs and soldering. The bowl is circular in shape. In profile, it features a slightly flared wall topped by a corrugated rim. The lower part of the wall is curved towards the bottom, which is flat. The bowl rests on a massive ring-shaped foot, whose beveled base is free of glaze; the bottom is recessed and flat. Twenty pairs of holes run through the bowl, holding as many spikes visible on the outer wall; the ends of seven pairs are visible on the bowl’s inner surface. A visible mass on the inner bottom has been filed off, and there are traces of filing on one of the bottom joints. The breaks have been covered with gold on the inner and outer sides of the bowl ; The decoration is molded and hand-painted in polychrome enamels in pink, blue, orange, green, green, white and black over glaze. It is floral and Oriental garden in the Famille rose style. The molded decoration is visible on the wall in the form of vertical fluting, and on the rim, which is undulating. The decoration is painted inside and out, partially covering the rim and wall. Inside, the decoration touches two facing surfaces, with the larger decoration extending over the wall and a small portion of the bottom. It consists of two stems outlined in black and painted in blue and green, extending from the edge onto the wall; they are adorned with leaves painted in green and turquoise with black and gold highlights. One of the stems supports a flower painted white and two painted pink, while the other carries two white flowers and another traced in red. On the outside, the decoration touches two opposing surfaces, with the more prominent decoration extending from the edge to the foot. This decoration consists of a stylized rock with a hole, symbolizing the Chinese philosophy of Taoism, traced in black and painted blue, which rests on the top of the foot of the bowl; it is bordered on one side by a terrace traced in black and painted in faded green and, on the other, by tufts of low grass traced in black and painted in turquoise and traced in gold. To his right are stems traced in black and painted blue and green; they are adorned with leaves painted green and turquoise with black and gold highlights, and flowers painted pink and white with black highlights. To its left stretches a fence with vertical posts and panels that appear to be lined with swastikas; drawn in red and painted gold, the fence is virtually obliterated. At its far end are stems traced in black and painted blue and green; they are adorned with leaves painted green and turquoise with black and gold highlights, and flowers, one traced in red and painted gold and another, painted white with black highlights. From the edge, above the rock, hang two stems traced in black and painted green, which are adorned with leaves painted turquoise with black and gold highlights. The opposite face is adorned with stems traced in black and painted green, and adorned with leaves painted turquoise with black and gold highlights; they support one flower painted white with black highlights and a second painted pink.
