Punch bowl
The bowl is complete; there is a chip under the inner rim and on the foot, and a break has been repaired with two iron studs. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, and the rim is straight; the top is plain and domed. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. The bowl rests on a ring-shaped foot, with a bevelled inner surface; its fulcrum is worn. The bottom is recessed and flat; there is an incised ring in the center of the bottom. There are three pernette marks arranged in a triangle on the inner wall. The inner base shows a number of linear marks. The outer wall features two rusty iron studs, the ends of which are inserted into two pairs of holes drilled in the outer wall. The decoration is hand-painted in cobalt blue, underglaze. It is of the Chinese house type. The decoration under the inner rim is a ribbon decorated with a double latticework topped with a cross. It is underlined by a fillet under which there is a row of wavy lines whose junction points are adorned with a trifoliate motif. The background features a terrace underlined by two zones of superimposed lines, supporting a central boulder covered with grass and flanked by sections of fence. The main motif on the outer wall is an undulating terrace featuring an Oriental-style house topped by a tower. This is a three-quarter view of the house, with its gable wall and side wall. The gable wall has a door, as does the side wall. The roof is double-pitched, with a pillar at each end. It is topped by a vertical tower covered by a flattened triangular roof; the center is topped by an oval. This house is adjoined by a fence, made of two distinct parts. The main panel is decorated with a lattice. The ends of the fence are identical: two downward-sloping sections made of a sloping top beam and vertical planks. Various grasses and trees rise behind and beyond the fence sections, including a willow tree on the right. Stylized birds twirl in the sky. The terrace is underlined by a row of six triangles made of superimposed lines pointing downwards. The secondary decoration is a terrace underlined by two triangles, supporting a central rock garnished with grass and flanked by fence sections.
