Borden malted milk jug. The tinplate container is covered in white painting. It has a lid with a knob-shaped handle on top. Inscriptions are molded and painted in dark blue on the jar.

Historical context
The Borden company was founded by American Gail Borden (1801-1874) in 1861 under the name New York Condensed Milk Company. Borden developed a condensed milk process, which he patented in 1856 and then brought to market. The company changed its name to Borden Company in 1919. In the 1920s, the company experienced strong growth and became one of the leading milk distributors in the United States.
