Pot reproduction
The pot is complete. It has a cylindrical neck, slightly flared towards the rim, which is straight and fitted with a small spout. The wall is domed and rests on a small annular foot. The bottom is recessed and flat. The handle is vertical; its upper end rests on the neck, while its lower end is folded down and rests on the wall, before folding back on itself. There are hand-painted inscriptions in black under the background, in three registers: Musée du Louvre / oval medallion with in reserve: m / PARIS ; The decoration is hand-painted in blue under the glaze. The painted decoration covers the neck and outer wall, as well as the handle. It features plant, animal and antique motifs. The decoration on the neck is delimited by two horizontal double rings. Beneath the spout, it features the bust of a cherub, seen from the front and with its wings outstretched; it is supported by two scrolls. On opposite sides, there is a garland of pearls, and a leafy stem on either side of the handle. The decoration on the outer wall is also delimited by two horizontal double rings; it consists of various leafy and flowering stems, and a bird seen in profile. The face of the handle is decorated with broad, slightly sloping lines, while its sides are adorned with a line ending in a scroll at its base.
