Historical context
The turn of the 20th century saw the emergence of an entertainment industry in major Western cities, and Montreal was no exception.
Starting in 1889, Sohmer Park offered games and musical performances to the public. In 1906, Dominion Park was opened in Longue-Pointe, in the east end of Montreal. Offering rides, shows, dances and other mechanical attractions, Dominion Park provides Montrealers with entertainment, fun and escape.
