Plate
The plate is complete. The plate is circular with a plain rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the wall is low and the base is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small milled foot, located in line with the outer wall and free of glaze. The decoration is hand-painted in blue underglaze and red overglaze, with touches of gilding, in the Imari style. It is vegetal and landscape in style. The painted decoration is visible on the inner rim and on the inner background. The decoration on the marli is composed of the same group of floral elements, repeated three times and arranged in a triangular pattern. The main element of the central decoration is a blue-painted rock with a hole in it, symbolizing the Chinese philosophy of Taoism. At the foot of the rock are scrolls in red. Behind the rock rise a leafy, flowering plant and bamboo saplings. The shrub is traced in blue and trimmed with flowers and leaves traced in blue and red and painted in blue, red and gold. The central bamboo is outlined and painted blue. The perimeter of the plate is covered with a pale iron-brown coating.
