Plate
The plate is complete; a portion of the glaze around the rim has disappeared. It is circular with a plain rim. On the front, the rim slopes towards the base, and the low wall curves towards the slightly domed base. On the reverse, the plate is truncated cone-shaped with a small, slightly concave central base. The reverse glaze is pitted with small holes. The body is beige, and the object is covered with a bluish-white glaze. The rim has lost all its enamel. There are three traces of pernette in a triangular pattern on the reverse. The enamel on the face is shiny ; The decoration is hand-painted in blue on the face of the object. The painted decoration is animal-like, in the Kraak style from China. The inner surface of the object is entirely decorated. There is a wide painted fillet near the rim. The rim and wall are decorated with compartments, divided into two alternating types. The larger compartments are trapezoidal in shape, with rounded upper corners and a simple fillet around the outside. Each one houses a different ribboned object, similar to the emblems of the Eight Immortals or the Eight Precious Objects, but highly stylized, or a large oval flower surrounded by four crosses with beaded tips. Between these compartments are tongues of the same length, but narrower than the compartments. They are delimited by two wide vertical bands. The tongues are adorned with a central pearl between two vertical dashes, the whole surrounded by two bands underlined by a line. The central decoration is encircled by a double ring, within which are two concentric hexagons with concave sides and pointed corners; the space between the two is in reserve. The space outside the octagons is painted blue. The main decoration consists of a lake scene, featuring a bird in profile, probably a duck, standing on rocks; it is surrounded by leafy, flowering plants. A sun shines in the sky below the clouds.
