Plate
The plate is complete; it has a crack. The plate is circular with a plain rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the wall is low and the base is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small milled foot, located in line with the outer wall and free of glaze. The decoration is hand-painted in blue underglaze and red overglaze, with touches of gilding, in the Imari style. It is vegetal and landscape in style. The painted decoration is visible on the inner rim, wall and background, as well as on the reverse of the rim. The decoration is encircled by a ring drawn in blue near the rim. It is composed of three similar elements painted on the marli and on the wall and arranged in a triangle. The central element is a large conical parallelogram traced and painted in blue and covered with ovals traced in gold and a leafy, flowering stem traced and painted in gold. To its left, this element is flanked by a cloud traced and painted in blue, surrounded by small aligned scrolls traced and painted in red. To the right of the parallelogram is an oval medallion traced and painted in blue, which surrounds an oval mass traced and painted in blue, from which emanate two curved ribbons; this mass is adorned with a few small leaves traced in red. To the right of this medallion extends another cloud, painted as a continuation of the previous one, while above the cloud, a series of superimposed wavy lines drawn in red simulate a mountain. The space between these three elements is filled by three similar scenes, resting on the ring that encircles the background décor. The scene consists of a high, undulating terrace, traced and painted in blue. In the center are two tall, leafy trees traced and painted blue, and trimmed with leaves traced in red and painted red and gold. On either side of the trees stands a small building topped by an oriental-style roof and a pagoda with a high, stepped roof; they are traced in blue and painted in blue and faded red, with touches of gold. In addition, small conical trees are drawn in red. The central decoration is surrounded by a ring of blue lines. It consists of a garden scene, with a four-panel fence resting on a flat terrace, all traced and painted in blue. Behind the fence rise three tall, leafy, flowering plants, all different but mainly traced and painted in blue; they are trimmed with leaves traced in red and painted in red and gold. On the reverse, the marli is decorated with two similar elements, consisting of a wavy leafy stem traced and painted in blue, and trimmed with flowers traced and painted in red. The rim of the plate is covered with an iron-brown coating.
