Plate

The plate is circular in shape, with a rim that undulates at regular intervals. It is complete; the glaze is flaking in one place on the rim. The rim is thick and slightly domed. The marli is slightly inward sloping and concave, with a small bulge at its junction with the wall; the wall is curved and the base is flat. On the reverse, the plate rests on a milled foot; the bottom is recessed and flat. There are three traces of three beads arranged in a triangle on the reverse of the plate. There are linear marks on the inner base and under the base ; The decoration is applied by transfer printed; it is blue in color and has a European bucolic motif (Village church). The printed decoration is visible on the marli, on the wall and on the inner base; it occupies the entire surface of the plate. The decoration on the marli consists of two different elements. Near the rim, it consists of a narrow band of open ovals, in reserve, with a curved line in the center. The other motif, which occupies the entire border and part of the wall, consists of various flowers and leafy plant stems in reserve, repeated in alternation (similar to the Wild rose motif). The background decoration is framed by a band identical to the one around the marli. In the foreground, a fenced-in field with three reclining sheep; two men stand on either side of the fence, which has an open gate. To the right is a thatched cottage with a smoking chimney, surrounded by trees. In the background are a Gothic church and other thatched cottages. The rendering of the decor is clear. The junction of the marli frieze is visible.
