Il s’agit d’une carte de la ville de Montréal et de ses environs communément appelée « spy map » (carte espion). Un officier anglais espion a en effet fourni ce plan aux britanniques dans le cadre du déroulement de la guerre de Sept Ans. Cet officier anglais a été présent à Montréal entre 1756 et 1758.
