Ce porte-plume, datant du 19e siècle, a appartenu au notaire et politicien Jean-Joseph Girouard (1794-1855), député à la Chambre d’assemblée du Bas-Canada de 1831 jusqu’à la suspension de la Constitution en 1838. À la suite de sa participation à la Rébellion de 1837, il fait l’objet d’un mandat d’arrestation pour haute trahison et sera emprisonné jusqu’en 1838.
