Dans son roman intitulé Earth and High Heaven, paru en 1944, Gwethalyn Graham décrit certains souvenirs qui émanent de Montréal, notamment « les figures en noir et blanc schématisées des religieuses prenant l’air au crépuscule parmi les arbres près de la maison-mère de la Congrégation de Notre-Dame, les petites rues sombres étroites du centre-ville de Montréal […] ».
