Lot of Dupuis Frères store boxes: – two square hat boxes – 5 boxes of various sizes – one single lid Brown or pink-brown boxes with a small black border on the outside and the Dupuis Frères Limitée logo in the center of the lid. Some boxes have an alligator-skin texture on the lid. Some boxes have the store address written below the logo, others ”Montréal” only. Some boxes have handwritten inscriptions and glued-on delivery labels.

Historical context
Ces boîtes en carton proviennent du magasin Dupuis Frères, une institution montréalaise symbolisant la réussite économique des Canadiens français. C’est en 1868 que Nazaire Dupuis ouvre un magasin sur la rue Sainte-Catherine, près de la rue Montcalm. En 1882, l’entreprise déménage et s’installe à l’angle des rues Sainte-Catherine et Saint-André, où elle demeurera jusqu’à sa fermeture.
