Oiler

The oil set is incomplete; its handle is broken and missing, and chips are missing from around the foot. It is cylindrical in shape, with a bulging wall, a rounded shoulder and a long straight neck topped by a straight rim with a flat top; the rim is fitted with a small oval pouring spout. It rests on a full flared foot, the underside of which is flat and unglazed. The decoration is hand-painted in grayish-blue underglaze; it is outlined in black and painted in gray. It is floral in style. The painted decoration is visible on the neck and outer wall, and on the handle. The decoration on the neck is delimited by a double fillet. From this fillet hangs a black garland of flowers on the shoulder of the container; the sides are decorated with a leafy stem hanging from the fillet. The wall is decorated with a pair of fillets followed by another in gray. The double fillets support two trifoliate motifs and two Xs in black, arranged in a mirror image. The face of the handle is decorated with large, overlapping horizontal lines painted in grayish-blue.
