Milk jug

The pot is incomplete; a sherd is missing from the rim. It is circular in shape. The shoulder is rounded and the neck is constricted; the rim is flared and the top is domed. It has an elongated oval spout. The wall is swollen and narrowed above its swollen base. It rests on a pedestal, the base of which is partially free of glaze. The base is recessed and flat, with a slightly domed center. The handle is vertical. Its top is domed, with a bulge at the junction with the vertical portion; at its base, it has another bulge, and its last section is concave. Oval in cross-section, its ends are turned down and rest on the neck and wall. The handle is recessed before joining the neck; the decoration is molded and plastered. The pot is covered on the outside with a copper lustre coating and a band of engobe. Moulded decoration is visible on the outer wall. The outer wall is decorated with a horizontal groove. The engobe decoration forms a band on the wall. The slip is brownish-yellow in color, covered with a colorless glaze and painted vegetal decoration in lustrous copper. The inner wall, with the exception of the neck, is covered with a white slip, itself covered with a colorless glaze; the neck is covered with a copper coating. The handle has been molded separately.
