Historical context
Obtained from the cross-section of a walrus tusk, this small sock is framed in an irregular oval shape testifying to its organic origin. On one side, a scene depicts an archer hunting two large migratory birds, probably geese. Crouching, the archer is depicted in surprising detail, considering the smallness of the carved surface.
