Signed by La Gauchetière, an officer of the Compagnie franche de la Marine, the document announces the disappearance or defection of a soldier, Marteau dit L’espérance. After a fruitless search, he asks Governor Dubois Bertelot de Beaucour, Governor of Montreal, to continue the search. Another three-line text from another hand ordering that this be done. Mr de La Corne is to be informed, as is the Baron de Longueuil.
