Historical context
Le régiment de Carignan-Salière, envoyé en Nouvelle-France en 1665 pour combattre les Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), rentre en France en 1668. Plusieurs centaines d’hommes s’embarquent en octobre pour poursuivre leur carrière militaire en France.
