Historical context
On May 5, 1835, Amable Dionne (1781-1852), merchant, seigneur and member for Kamouraska in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada, resigned his seat. First elected in 1830, in 1834 he signed the Ninety-two Resolutions presenting the Assembly’s main grievances and demands to the English government. He was re-elected the same year before resigning a few months later.
