Jug

The jug is complete. It is circular and massive. The shoulder is rounded, the neck short and narrow, the rim flared and the top flat and wide. The wall is rounded, the base is narrow and straight, and rests on a pedestal. The base is flat and wide and free of glaze, while the bottom is recessed and flat. There are two vertical handles: the top of the rear handle is attached to the rim of the neck and its lower end is folded down and rests on the shoulder. The other handle, known as the basket handle, is arched and its ends rest on the top of the rim, in line with the rear handle and spout. The jug is fitted with a small truncated cone-shaped pouring spout at the straight end, which sits on the shoulder; it is connected to the neck and rim by a ring with a hollow center. There are two bulging vertical mold lines on opposite sides; the decoration is hand-painted in blue and violet. The decoration is hand-painted in blue and violet, with geometric and vegetal motifs, including lambrequins. The decoration is visible on the sides of the handles and spout, as well as on the neck, shoulder, wall and foot. The decoration on the sides of the upper and rear handles consists of inclined S’s outlined in blue. The decoration on the eye joining the spout to the neck consists of superimposed lines painted in blue, while that on the sides of the spout consists of scrolls with volutes traced in blue. The rim is decorated with a broad blue line. The neck is adorned with a braid encircled by two superimposed lines and trimmed with scrolls. The shoulder and wall are adorned with four lambrequins hanging from the neck; outlined in violet and painted blue, they occupy the opposite walls, as well as the perimeter of the base and rear handle and the perimeter of the spout, with a plant motif hanging from each lambrequin. Between each lambrequin are plant motifs painted in blue and scrolls traced in violet, from which hang plant motifs following those of the lambrequins.
