Historical context
This guide is intended for the various bearers of the Olympic flame. The cover features torches designed by industrial designer Michel Dallaire. A colorful object with pure forms, it was inspired by the torches of ancient Greece. Although disapproved of by some, including Mayor Jean Drapeau, the torch won over Greek leaders and was finally adopted.
In 1976, the Olympic Torch Relay left Olympia, Greece, for Ottawa and then Montreal....
