Gadroon bowl
The bowl is complete; a crack has been repaired with wire. It is circular with a wavy rim. The wing is rounded and wide, and the wall slopes towards the bottom; the base is rounded. On the reverse, it rests on a circular foot with a bearing on the inside, connected to the bottom by a short constricted ring; the fulcrum is domed and partially unglazed. The center is recessed and flat. The body is beige, and the object is covered with a bluish-white enamel. The enamel on the reverse is dotted with small needle holes. There is a flaw on the reverse of the wing. There is a mark painted in blue under the base: nx (interlocking letters). Two aligned holes have been drilled on the wing; they are crossed by a wire, the ends of which are twisted on the reverse; The decoration is molded and hand-painted in blue. The molded decoration is visible on the rim, wing, wall and bottom. The painted decoration features a rural landscape motif. The rim has a corrugated contour, each corrugation being the extension of a long gadroon perpendicular to the rim; the radiating gadroons cover the entire face of the wing and wall up to the bottom, flaring out towards the rim; they are domed on the face and concave on the reverse. The bottom is also decorated with radiating gadroons, with the exception of the center of the bottom, which is domed; the gadroons on the bottom, which are narrower, are not aligned with those on the wall. The painted decoration affects the rim, wing and base. The rim and inner edge are painted blue. A wavy fillet on the edge of the wing and another near the bottom delimit the decoration on the wing. This consists of two different, alternating motifs. The main decoration, on the upper and lower parts of the wing, is a large oval medallion with a central flower surrounded by leafy stems and vertical lines; the two areas between the medallions are decorated with stylized plant motifs. The background decoration is encircled by a double ring. The main decoration is a scene of buildings on a terrace; a tower rises in the center, flanked by two tall trees.
