Flower vase

The vase is complete; one handle has been broken and repaired with glue, and there are chips on the rim and pedestal. It is circular in shape. The wall is tapered towards the sock, while the shoulder is angular and sloping. The rim is short, slightly tapered at the top, with a domed top. The base of the wall is narrowed and rests on an almost flat pedestal with a wide, glaze-free base. The pot has two vertical handles. At the top, they divide into two coiled sections that extend over the shoulder. At the base, they divide similarly on the wall. Opposite surfaces on the shoulder are pierced by three large, non-aligned circular holes. The body is orange-beige, well-fired and covered with a bluish-white glaze. The underside of the base is marked in purple: vertically: AMONTAGNON, the A being painted in a knotted ribbon traced in purple and painted green; on either side: EG GM. The molded decoration is visible on the handles, which have been molded separately; they have the shape of a twisted coil, single on the shoulder and double on the wall. Painted decoration is visible on the rim, shoulder, outer wall and foot, as well as on the handles. It features geometric and vegetal motifs. The painted decoration on the outer rim consists of two superimposed lines: a broad blue, which also covers the top of the rim, followed by a purple fillet. The decoration on the shoulder is a purple braid trimmed with blue spirals and a yellow core. A wide blue fillet is painted at the top of the wall, which is adorned with a blue-painted latticework bordered by a purple line. The latticework is trimmed, in the center of opposite faces, with a half-flower traced in violet and painted yellow, and is interrupted, on either side of this half-flower, by volutes traced in violet and trimmed with leaves traced in succession and painted blue. Between them, an elongated acorn hangs from the lattice, traced in violet and trimmed with a yellow lattice; it is surrounded by scrolls and leafy stems, traced in violet and painted yellow and blue, and from which hang two yellow-painted pearls. The lower part of the wall is adorned with two purple fillets enclosing a blue fillet. Its junction with the foot is adorned with two purple fillets surmounted by a row of blue-painted semicircular lines and topped with yellow-painted pearls. The foot is adorned with a purple braid and a row of alternating ovals and lozenges, painted blue and trimmed with yellow lines. The circumference of the foot is painted blue. The handles are decorated with a triple row of small vertical lines.
